Without a doubt, the Phase III GTHO is the icon of the Australian Muscle car scene, it was the ultimate GT Falcon in terms of raw performance and stated as being the fastest 4 door sedan in the world at the time. There were 300 of these cars produced and there is only around 50% genuine cars surviving today. In 1971, they took out 5 of the top six places at the Famous Bathurst 1000 with the winning car being driven by Alan Moffat. Based on the XY Gt complete with the bonnet shaker and a thumping 351-cid V8, the HO option added a front spoiler as well as a full width rear wing to an already tough looking package. Under the hood there were new heads and valve gear while a four-barrel Holley carburettor and higher compression ratio helped boost output to a mighty 370bhp. This one of 13 Nugget Gold Phase 3s was purchase by a gentleman in Western Australia and remained the sole owner of the car until acquired by the Museum and has only covered a fully documented 66,626 miles from new. The car has not been in use since 1982 and is totally original with all matching numbers and we have had the car verified by the foremost FT HO Falcon expert, this car is truly a one off and is being offered with 2 volumes of hand written records as well as all of the original hand books and service books including the original sales invoice. Ford Motor Company advise the previous owner that the car was original destined to Bob Jane as a Bathurst car which did not eventuate.
